Phone Not Detected by Easy Phone Tunes

If you are using Windows XP and a Samsung Android device then you may first need to install the Samsung Kies software before your device is detected. The Samsung Kies software can be downloaded from here.

If you are using a Samsung Galaxy S3 and a Mac, then click here for more information.

If the above does not apply then it is possible that the USB connection on your phone is not set up correctly. This post describes how to set up your USB connection so that Easy Phone Tunes can detect it.

Most Android phones will display a menu when you connect them to your PC (or Mac). If your phone displays multiple options when you connect it to your PC (or Mac) then you should select one of the following:

USB Disk
USB Drive
Mass Storage
Disk Drive
Memory Card Access
Memory Card Management
Mount

The exact options available will depend on the particular model and brand of the Android phone.

It is important NOT to select “Windows Media Sync”, “Media “Player, “Samsung Kies” or other similar options.

If no menu is displayed when you connect your phone then it may be necessary to change the USB settings. The following links describe how to set up the USB connection for some of the most popular Android devices:

Samsung Galaxy S2
Samsung Galaxy S and Captivate
Motorola Droid X
Motorola Droid 2
Motorola Droid (Original Version)

For other devices, consult your phone’s user guide for details of how to change the USB settings. Once you have found the USB settings on your phone you should select one of the following options:

Mass Storage
Disk Drive
USB Disk
USB Drive
Memory Card Access
